Inner realization

Ok. I look at things, and know if I like them or not immediately by the emotion an image evokes in me. Lately, I've been trying to figure out what it is about certain images that draw me to them. I like detail shots, like I've expressed before. I think I like them so much because they give you just a hint of the big picture and your imagination can go on from there. Feet shots always make me wonder what the owners of those feet are doing. Looking at a sunset? Laughing? Dreaming? I also like certain shots that mix the elements! I love the softness of a baby, or a girl in a soft sundress put up against a rough background like a harsh metal wall or an old barn door. The more textures you can creatively add, the better! Well, as long as it's done right! See, you can learn new things about yourself all the time! I think they call it personal growth... I call it the "Ah ha!" factor...

Too funny!

I had just had to post this one! The boys' are just too funny!

Family Portraits

I just had one of those days when everything worked out when I photographed this lovely family. First, the lighting was great. Then, I get to the Anthem Country Club and just fell in love with the area Lisa chose for the portraits. Then, I met the family. They were beautiful, fun, and so easy to work with! I had such a great time with this family, it was hard to choose which shots to post!

Engagement shoot

Sometimes, I learn things about myself from other people. What I realized recently, from an off-handed comment is that I LOVE detail shots! How did I not know this about myself? Once it was put out there, I realized that I truly love looking for those little details and capturing them in eye catching angles. These photos, taken at an engagement shoot I tagged along for with Mary www.photosbymary.com represent what I am talking about.

And so it begins...

A little history about how this blog, and these photographs, came to be...
I found a love for photography, early on, however, my desire to be behind the camera came with the birth of my first born! Who can resist capturing all those tiny fingers and toes? After countless photographs of my own children, I decided to try to capture the moments of my friend's children. Soon, I began to wonder if I had the talent to capture those once in a lifetime moments for people. Mainly, weddings. I was lucky enough to meet an incredible wedding photographer who allowed me to come along, and photograph her weddings with her. Mary Sandy, check out her site
http://www.photosbymary.com/ has given me an incredible opportunity to learn and grow with photography. As I continue this journey, I will post some of the images I take along the way!

Wedding dresses and flowers. I just love them! For each wedding, and each couple, the dress and flowers are as unique as the couple themselves. I think that's why I love photographing them the most! I love the simplicity of the the timeless red roses, and the detail of Chantel's dress. This wedding was yet another that Mary Sandy http://www.photosbymary.com/ gave me the opportunity to photograph with her.

I had the best time photographing this angelic baby today! Of course, her mommy had the perfect outfit, and it's hard not to take a good shot of this beauty, but I am happy with the turnout!

Eric and Rose...October 23,2010

I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to photograph this truly happy event! Mary Sandy http://www.photosbymary.com/ invited me to come and photograph this wedding with her, and I am so glad she did! You could just feel the positive energy in the air and Rose was so radiant that the entire day was filled with great images. I realized how much easier it can be to take a great photograph when everyone is so happy! This was such a fun event to photograph!
